ABOUT DR. MATA
Who is Jose "Joey" Mata?
Hello. My name is Dr. Jose "Joey" Mata. I’m a longtime Baldwin Park resident and candidate for Baldwin Park School Board.

I thank BP schools for giving me their very best and for supporting my success. I've done well as a scholar. I’ve attended elite colleges and universities, received a number of prestigious scholarships and fellowships, and hold a doctorate in educational leadership.
It has been my life’s work to pay it forward and to do for others what has been done for me. I am a veteran educator with experience as a teacher and administrator. I know how schools work and what they can be.

This November, vote for me, Jose "Joey" Mata for Baldwin Park School Board. I have the values, knowledge, and expertise to make sure our schools do right by our students, families, and this community.

A long-time Baldwin Park resident, I attended Geddes and Bursch Elementary Schools and Olive Middle School before graduating valedictorian from Sierra Vista High School. I am an example of the promise and potential of BP Schools. I know the community and represent its values and interests.

A Seasoned Educator
I have dedicated almost 30 years of service to the young people of our community. From my early days as a SVHS football, basketball, and tennis coach to my time as a teacher and now a middle school principal, I have aimed to pay it forward. I have the skills and experience to lead.

I will embrace evidenced-based approaches, best practices, and what we know works. But I will also push the district to innovate and be at the forefront and cutting-edge of preparing our students to be the next generation of leaders. I have a vision for our district as a model for the county and the region.
